Words from Pastor Randy
Can MeadowBrook really impact the world, locally and
globally? The answer is unequivocally, yes! And we are! The Brook continues to
be one of the leading churches in Alabama in mission financial support; planning
to give over $300,000 to missions this year. We’ll have over 150 people on
short-term mission projects this year, and will have about 300 people involved
in local mission projects. Needless to say, MeadowBrook is embracing the call to
reach the world for Christ, and with the help of thousands of other
mission-minded churches the name of Jesus will be known.
Mission opportunities occur every day
at our workplace, community, school, in church and other places. We are
commissioned every day as ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). Much of
our mission thrust occurs during our day to day life, but other mission
opportunities are more organized and require partnering with others. This year
we’re organizing eight mission projects that stretch from New York to the
Appalachian mountain to the Caribbean Basin to India. Here is a brief summary of
the mission trips we’re planning.
India (January 28 – February 13): Each
year we have a small team traveling to India to share the gospel of Jesus to
this culturally rich county. Make your plans now for the 2011 mission trip to
India. Contact: Lynn Gilchrist
Dominican Republic (February 27 – March 6):
MeadowBrook will complete the worship building for Iglesia Bautista Cristo Solo
Cristo, a church we’ve partnered with for the past year. It is possible that the
group will travel to the border of Haiti to aid those in the desperate situation
following the January earthquakes. Contact: Randy Gunter
Costa Rica (April 24 – May 1):
Our team will host eye clinics and a small medical clinic throughout several
villages of Costa Rica. While meeting the physical needs of people we will share
how Jesus is the only hope to meet their spiritual needs. Medical and
non-medical missionaries are needed for this trip. Contact: Van Lockridge
Virginia (April 17 – 23): MBC is
partnered with a newly planted church in Tazewell County, Virginia. The church
is nestled in the rural area of the Appalachian Mountains. Our team will visit
door to door to share gospel tracts and invite people to our partner church,
Crosspointe Community Church (an SBC church). Contact: James Long
New York, NY (June 24 – July 1): Our high
school students and college students will join City Uprising to make a huge
impact on New York City. The team will stay in Manhattan (Holiday Inn Madison
Square Garden) and will share the love of Christ throughout the area. Contact:
Michael Bozeman or Josh Malone
Victoria, Mexico (Summer, 2010):
MeadowBrook is returning to Ciudad Victoria to join forces with local churches
and translators to reach the region for Christ and enhance the ministries of
churches. Contact: Brian Crisman
Costa Rica & Dominican Republic (Fall, 2010):
We’ll return to both countries in the fall to continue our work of sharing the
gospel and aiding the poor. Contact: Katina Louderback or Vickey Weeks
