Words from Pastor Randy

Summer vacations might be in full swing, but that doesn’t slow the pace for MeadowBrook’s ministries and missions. Throughout the summer months we are witnessing the salvation and continued discipleship of many children and students through Vacation Bible School, camps for children and students and mission trips for high school and college students. At the same time we’re increasing our Wednesday night discipleship efforts for adults through preaching and for our families through interactive family Bible studies. We are serving and ministering to some of our largest crowds of the year at The Way of the Cross soup kitchen. And remarkably we’re starting new Sunday School classes. It is amazing, but we’re gaining momentum during the summer.

While others might be gearing down during the summer we’re gearing up.

As we continue our series, “Countdown to the End of Time” we’re recognizing that time is of the essence. We have fewer days before the return of our Lord. In His wisdom, God has chosen us to be the generation to experience so many signs of His imminent return, but seeing the signs is one thing, understanding the need for expediency in ministry and missions is another.

Many at The Brook recognize our role in the “last days”—recognizing that there is much to be done. Perhaps that is the reason why giving remains strong even in the midst of economic difficulties. Or it is the reason why so many have an interest in the spiritual needs of their family and friends. Or it is the reason why so many are interested in our mission partnership in the Dominican Republic and other places.

One of our main events of the summer is scheduled around our 50th Anniversary, which is August 23, 2009. MeadowBrook will host a huge revival August 19–23 (6:00 PM), the days leading up to our anniversary date. I’ve invited some of America’s greatest gospel communicators to fill the pulpit, including…

August 19th – Rick Burgess of the Rick and Bubba Show
August 20th – Junior Hill
August 21st – Mike Satterfield, Field of Grace Ministry
August 22nd – Chuck Kelley, New Orleans Baptist Seminary

On the morning of our anniversary, August 23, I’ll share a stirring message that I pray will set the pace for the next several years of ministry. Wes Hampton of the Gaither Vocal Band will share in the morning service and provide a full concert that evening.

We need your help. We’d like to have as many people as possible from the MeadowBrook family in attendance for the revival and the 50th Anniversary service. Please call, write or speak to any of our extended MeadowBrook family and invite them to join us for any or all of the services.

We’re off to a great start this summer and I can only imagine what God has in store for us in the months ahead.

Pastor Randy
