The MeadowBrook
Senior Adult Department
One word comes to mind when describing the senior adult group at MeadowBrook
– AWESOME. Our senior adults are joyful, energetic servants of Jesus! They are
dedicated and faithful to worship together, fellowship together and care for
each other.
MeadowBrook seniors fulfill many and varied roles in the church. Many are
deacons, Sunday School Teaches, leaders in church organizations and outreach
programs. Daily they are involved in ministry activities at our church:
answering the phones, welcoming guests, building props for the youth activities,
serving at our fellowship meals, and ministering wherever needed.
The seniors go on mission trips, sing in the choir, minister in VBS, visit
homebound and nursing home residents and help stage a community wide fall
festival.
Social Activities
MeadowBrook provides a wide variety of social activities for the seniors.
-
Once a month the group takes a one-day trip. A
few of the places we have been are: Blue Willow Inn is Social Circle, GA:
Calloway Gardens, Stone Mountain, and Cumberland County Playhouse in
Crossville, TN, Southern Belle Riverboat in Chattanooga,
TN; and Guntersville State Park in Guntersville, AL.
-
We attend night time events such as “I Love
America”, in Huntsville; plays at Northeast Community College, “Christmas in
the Valley” . . . . More social events are an annual Valentine Banquet and
an Annual Fish Fry.
-
Two trips per year for three or more days.
The socials are wonderful times of fellowship, getting acquainted and bonding.
And exploring God’s beautiful world together.
