Words from Pastor Randy :: August 2016

Posted on July 25, 2016 by in

I continue to rejoice and praise the Lord for the $1.5 million Harvest Offering that was recently received. The offering is part of our plan to build a worship center and education space without debt. Many people continue to give regularly for this effort.

In the future, we will walk into a beautiful facility that will be used to worship God and disciple many people. It will be a building that will bring glory to God. Each of us plays a vital part in providing a place for generations to come to worship, generations that will bless the Lord for the sacrifice and dedication shown by us.

Our next Harvest Offering will be December 11. I am praying that the Lord will replenish our accounts so that we may give generously again. Our goal for the Harvest Offerings is $3 million. We are halfway to this goal. Once this goal is met, then we will move forward with a pledge campaign. It is possible that we could be rejoicing and praising the King of Glory in a new worship center in three years!

As we are in the dog days of summer, it is hard to think about Christmas and December, but it is just five months away. I know that it sounds odd, but may I encourage you to purchase your Christmas gifts now? The reason for my asking is that I would like for us to celebrate Advent (11/27-12/25). The season is often such a blur because of gift buying, dinners, parties and the like. However, if we made a real effort to do gift purchasing now, then we could concentrate more fully on Advent, the real reason of the season.

MeadowBrook will be supplying Advent guides for the season. The guide will help you and your family to experience the greatness of Christmas. Each Sunday, concluding with Christmas Sunday morning, we will focus on a portion of the Christmas narrative. God will bless our efforts to be intentionally focused on him throughout Advent. A key to the greatest experience is to complete all that we can now that may distract us later during the Advent season, namely gift purchasing.

Finally, I want to say thank you, MeadowBrook, for your heartfelt support to the people of South Sudan. The country continues to be in crisis. Many people have been killed and millions are surviving the harsh conditions of limited or lacking food and shelter. Recently, The Brook collected and sent money to our ministry partners there, who have been able to feed many displaced people and refugees.

Moses, one of our partners wrote: “Thank you for the emergency response to the most needy people at such a time of crisis. In this way, Christ is lifted up. It is a demonstration that we serve a living God. …People are praising God for this great help.”

I am so grateful to serve alongside you, Church. You continue to reveal the heart of God in many ways. I am proud of you and thankful to God for you.
