Words from Pastor Randy :: March 2016

Posted on February 22, 2016 by in

Healthy marriages make a healthy church. In fact, the essential bedrock of society is marriage—as goes the family, so goes the country.

Honoring marriage is part of the church’s mandate from the Lord. Let marriage be held in honor among all… (Hebrews 13:4a). Sunday, March 6, MeadowBrook is focusing on honoring marriage. The morning services will hold up the biblical standard of marriage, revealing God’s glory, grace and gospel.

MeadowBrook should never stop teaching and honoring marriage, even though not all of our congregation is married or have enjoyable marriages. We must honor and teach on the subject because some in our faith family will be getting married in the future and all of us, married or unmarried, are called to encourage and disciple one another regarding biblical truths, including the subject of marriage.

Single or married, we should all celebrate those couples who are great role models of biblical marriage. Their relationships are used by God to reveal the gospel to others, and such relationships give us a tangible way to see God’s love revealed through people’s covenant relationship with one another. A good marriage requires a whole lot of Jesus in both husband and wife. Simply stated, you’ll see Jesus in the details of a loving biblical marriage.

Back to March 6, at six o’clock in the evening, MeadowBrook will host an “Honor Marriage Gala”. The event will be held at the Pitman Theater, 629 Broad Street, Gadsden. The evening is for married couples and is meant to make much of marriage. We believe that the evening will be a night of celebration, rekindling deep feelings and truths, and affirming sacred marriage vows.

The Gala will include beautifully decorated white clothed tables, a fine meal, plated and served by Classics on Noble (your choice of beef or chicken), an opportunity to participate in a marriage vow affirmation ceremony and a celebration to follow with terrific desserts and dancing with your spouse. Yes, Baptists may dance with their spouses! Complimentary childcare is available for those who indicate the need when registering.

The gala is a good opportunity to pull out a suit and tie, guys, or even a tux that you may have in the back of the closet. Ladies, try on that beautiful dress that is rarely worn, or borrow one from a friend. It will be a fun night, making a big to-do about marriage.

The registration cost is $100 per couple. A night of fine dining, celebrating your marriage and an opportunity to dance with your bride would cost far more elsewhere. For those with limited funds, there are 20 sponsored discounted registrations available (half price).

Please, take a moment now, and register here. Your marriage will be glad that you did.
