Pastor’s Words
WORDS FROM PASTOR RANDY
————————————————————————————-
February 2012…
MeadowBrook’s desire is to experience life together, be transformed by the Bible and Holy Spirit, to be the body of Jesus Christ, locally and beyond, and to live our life as the light of God’s glory. To put it more simply, we connect, grow, serve and glorify.
Although we still have certainly not perfected living on mission, God has blessed our efforts by allowing us to disciple more people than ever before, engage in worldwide missions, increase our local efforts to share Christ and compassionately serve people. At the same time, He continues to refine us, prune us and teach us so that we might produce more fruit. We experienced great spiritual and numeric growth in 2011, but the numeric growth was not sustainable; there was just not enough space for more people in worship and there were no other rooms available for new Sunday School classes.
We made a bold decision to add a third worship service, which proved to be an ambitious undertaking. Adding another worship service meant that our worship ministry—choir, rhythm section, media team and praise team—had to grow significantly. God blessed the effort, which is evident each Sunday morning, nearly doubling in size. Adding another worship service meant that we would need to increase our Sunday School hours too. Through hundreds of hours of planning, we are certain that we are offering great Bible classes for every age group in both Sunday School hours.
The promotional materials are rolling out this week. Our Facebook ads, email flyers and mailers are going out too, but our greatest source of advertising is you and me. Nothing beats a personal invitation to a friend, neighbor, co-worker or acquaintance. Please invite others to join you for our launch Sunday. By doing so, we are applying the biblical principle of multiplication: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (2 Corinthians 9:6 ESV) Let’s reap bountifully on February 5.
The ushers, greeters and welcome ministers are ready. Our 75 Sunday School classes are ready. Our worship ministry is ready. Our membership is ready. Pastor Josh and I are ready. Let’s do this thing!
May the Lord bless the effort by making more disciples at MeadowBrook than ever. May 2012, “The Year of the Word and Prayer” also prove to be a great time of harvest.
