I am excited about two men joining the MeadowBrook family and staff, Kevin Boyd and Daniel Doak. Kevin is our new Worship Pastor and Daniel is our new Media Pastor.
I’m thrilled for Kevin and Daniel because they will be loved and encouraged during their long tenure to come. Few churches are as gracious and kind to their staff as MeadowBrook is to hers. Kay and I have been recipients of this affection for many years. As soon as conversations began to be serious with these two men, I began telling them about you and what they should anticipate from you—love, care, acceptance, hospitality, grace, and more. Hebrews 13:17 instructs churches to treat their pastors in such a way as their ministry is done with joy. MeadowBrook is a joyful place to serve Jesus.
Kevin and Daniel make me excited for The Brook too. After a long process of praying and vetting, I, along with many others, believe that these men are a great fit for MeadowBrook.
What attracted me to the ministry of Kevin Boyd is his obvious love for God and people. 1 Corinthians 13 is clear that even if someone has much ability and talent, but does not have love, they have nothing to offer. From a loving heart, Kevin has much to offer. This is reflected by the congregation he has served for 16 years. Some of their recent comments to MeadowBrook include:
– “You’ll have so much to look forward to as the Boyd’s join your family! They are so special & so easy to love!” (Jo Jordan)
– “You will love the whole family as much as we do. You are BLESSED!” (Denise Shiflett)
– [The Boyds are a] “very special family that you will instantly love.” (Lorrica Purdy)
– “What a special family y’all are getting. We love the Boyd family. Your church will be blessed!” (Barbara Evans)
Another aspect that drew attention to Kevin is his deep desire to encourage worship for all generations. From children to senior adults and everyone in between, Kevin will provide many opportunities for corporate worship. I could go on and on about his work ethic, his family, his integrity, his gospel passion and other characteristics, but I’ll allow you the pleasure of discovering them for yourself.
I am grateful to God, who led us by the Holy Spirit to Kevin Boyd. I am also thankful to Josh Sullins for his role in the search. He proved to be persevering and a great champion for our faith family. Kevin will be successful, in part, because of the ministry foundation that Josh has established.
Daniel Doak is a bright twenty-six year old. He is a techie without being nerdy—no offence to the decidedly nerdy! He is a 2012 graduate from the University of Mobile with a BS degree in worship leadership. He has church staff experience as a worship and ministry leader and production experience as the leader of the production team for LifeWay’s CentriKid Camps.
As MeadowBrook’s Media Ministry, Daniel will help the church reach far beyond our campus property.
Media has transformed our lives. Media has altered more than the way our culture communicates; media offers the world opportunity to discover truths well beyond territorial and cultural boundaries. MeadowBrook must initiate the gospel message on a global scale; it is our call and duty. Daniel will help us reach people in Northeast Alabama and well beyond, to international households, places where we may never travel personally.
The purpose of adding staff is to advance the kingdom of God. I have great expectation that Kevin and Daniel, along with the rest of MeadowBrook’s staff and laity will do just that. We are accountable to each other and to God for kingdom results.
Join me in welcoming the Boyd and Doak families, and consider coming alongside them to advance the Lord’s kingdom.
